Condition: EXCELLENT CONDITION: Book appears unread. Gilt is pristine. Slipcase shows little wear or soil....very few scuffs, marks...etc. Not sure why that ~Acceptable~ condition label popped up from Ebay; the work IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
We came across this lovely and very scarce edition of J.R.R. Tolkien beloved work The Hobbit in a small university bookstore buyout. This rare edition is indeed a splendid companion to the Folio Society set of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Folio Society, London, 1979. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Book Condition: Appears never to have been read. Eric Fraser (illustrator). First Edition. 600 g; 245, (3) pages, illustrated map end pages, frontispiece illustration, and the text is illustrated with parts and full-page black-and-white drawings. Gilt decorated front panel, gilt decorated spine, bound in quarter dark red leather with red cloth boards. No damage to report. With original silver slipcase, top corner slightly cracked w. a few small scuffs. Size: 8 vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall. Illustrator: Eric Fraser. Bound in cloth and burgundy faux leather, the boards blocked in gilt with a special design by Jeff Clements. The Hobbit. J.R.R. Tolkien. Folio Society Edition 1979. The Folio Society. London.
