The inscription is an intriguing one. It is possible that the book was given as a Christmas gift by D B Wyndham Lewis to JRR Tolkien and his wife, Edith.
J R R Tolkien was known as ‘Ronald’, or ‘Ronnie’/’Tollers’ to his friends. Edith Mary Tolkien’s use of her name is not as well known. "
