I agree it is abeautiful design. For those who don't know, it is Arthur Rackham's illustration (for an English translation of Wagner's Ring Cycle) of Wotan, riding his eight-legged horse, Sleipnir, (you can see multiple legs in the picture) in pursuit of his disobedient daughter Brunnhilde.

Later, in Wagner's version, Brunnhilde will become the lover of Siegfried (Sigurd), himself the grand-child of Wotan.
