They have changed the text to 'based' now instead of 'born' in the article.

The gates appear to be next to the Clock Tower in the university and I am guessing that is what they are really talking about, as this regularly comes up as inspiration for one of "The Two Towers".

If only Tolkien had had an imagination he would not have needed all these inspirations.
