I'm pretty sure, when you said you recognised this item, that this was The Hobbit being offered by flatsigned.com at the same time as that signed Silmarillion. The Silmarillion sold, but (since I didn't note the final price) maybe the 'signed' Hobbit failed to meet reserve or something.
