Subject: Deluxe LotR - 1964 by Deagol on 2006/11/18 8:26:29 I have published a new article on The First Deluxe Edition of LotR at TolkienBooks.net. This takes up the story of the slipcases where the Boxed Edition ended. Allen and Unwin were aiming to produce a high quality edition, but naturally things didn't go entirely to plan. The article includes some great images of the Pauline Baynes slipcase artwork, and an illustration by PB that very few of you will have seen before! A new article summarizing print run sizes and dates for LotR 1954-66 is in preparation and will hopefully be published before Christmas. |
