Ballantine books, 4 book set 1973

Hello,

I am new to this forum. My mother gave me a 4 book set of J.R.R Tolkien books published in 1973. They are enclosed in a red boxed set labeled Tolkien.

The 4 books are
The hobbit
The fellowship of the ring
The two towers
The return of the king

They are published by Ballantine books.

My question is are the books worth anything, are they collectors items?
