Good old HC; can't make up their mind what it's going to be! Who's Pieter getting all this from anyway? Does he still have the ear of David Brawn?

It will indeed be pretty expensive Trotter. £336 all in (if discount applies as you suggest); £364 including the index. What kind of horrific boxset would it be, with 12 volumes? *chuckle* (I assume you mean some sort of combined volumes...)

Now, I need to go and read that fabulously long Hammond & Scull article, and curse Angi & Neil under my breath for the Moreton postponement...

The "Edge of the Wild" event, planned for 26 - 29 March in Moreton, is being postponed until an (unspecified) date in the summer. Angela Gardner's new book will be launched at the rescheduled event.

I'd agree with Trotter and others - very nice to see what to all appearances is a real letter! Letters such as this show up for sale every few months or so, but most of those are well known (up for sale more than once as they change hands multiple times).

There is not much scholarly value to your particular letter, but it is very charming!

Since I am totally new in this area, could anyone tell me how often you find a new letter from Tolkien in this forum?

At the moment we tend to see more fake letters than real ones, but Tolkien was a prolific letter writer so they must be a lot of letters from him ready to be found like you did.
