Thanks for the extremely detailed info on the price history of the HoMe series and for confirming that the seller is probably legit. I might take his offer if I can talk the price a little down :) This is a very useful site btw. I've been going though some of the older threads and learning a lot. Thanks again.

I also have dealt with the seller, if it is the one from the link, and can only say good things about him.

I will agree with Khamul that this seller is fairly reliable. The name looked familiar to me, so I searched my purchase history. I had one transaction with this seller (assuming that we are talking about the seller in Khamul's link) back in February of this year. I made a 100GBP purchase from him and everything went smoothly. He has 100% positive feedback on nearly 500 ebay transactions, so I would tend to think he's ok. If you are in doubt, ask for pictures of the actual book you will receive, request an invoice be sent through paypal, and pay with a credit card that has good buyer protection. I would think you would be covered between paypal and your credit card if anything fraudulent were to occur. Whatever you decide, good luck in your book hunting!

Regards,
Steve

If this is the auction & seller you're referring to:-

J R R Tolkien The Peoples of Middle Earth Volume 12 - 1996 VERY RARE LOTR Hobbit

...then I think the seller is fairly reliable. Haven't dealt with them, but they seem to list Tolkien stuff honestly enough. However, that story sounds like piddle.

Your price estimate range is about right. I posted on current prices earlier this year. It's late tho', I can't be bothered finding it. I'll edit this tomorrow so you can read it. (Or, Trotter!?, edit this for me )

[This might be it, (but was posted three years ago) http://www.tolkienguide.com/modules/n ... ost_id=3373#forumpost3373 -Trotter]

Rubbish Trotter! This is it:-

Most of the books (vg to fine) I´ve seen sold went for around £200-300 as you have mentioned.
