Thanks to the German Tolkien Society, I found a German review in the top German newspaper: "Even to the great cry of vengeance". This is a serious and positive review, even though it starts out by stating that Tolkien's retelling of the Edda came from the same impulse as fanfic by readers of J.K. Rowling and Stephenie Meyer and as Jules Verne's continuation of Edgar Alan Poe's The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket as Le Sphinx des glaces, Goethe's continuation of Alois Schikaneder's Magic Flute and Ariosto's continuation of Matteo Maria Boiardo's Orlando Inamorato.

I am told that this was an error, and will be fixed in the overnight (UK time) update of their territory database for the website. Try again this evening (USA time) and it should work! (Fingers crossed here and at HC as well).

One last comment, and then I'll quit blabbing about my books....

If anyone actually is interested in purchasing one, feel free to PM me and we can work out a price outside of ebay. I could pass on the savings of not paying ebay fees to the buyer, which would sweeten the deal. Also, I would be willing to sell either the medium blue one that is currently on ebay, or the dark blue one shown in my previous post. I only ever intended to keep only one of them, I just couldn't decide which one to have made, so I did one of each. They both turned out lovely, so I would be quite happy to keep either one.

Thanks for reading, and I hope that no one minds my use of this forum to show these books. I don't mean to turn it into a classified ad. This is truly the only Tolkien related forum that I enjoy, and I feel that the contributors actually 'contribute' to the collecting community. Thanks!

Here is why I was under that impression:

From the Harper Collins Update thread.....

(Rowns)

David Brawn has gotten back to me with some answers to questions I asked (mostly based on questions posed here in the forums or in private emails to me). I thought I would summarize here as well as tracking down all the threads and posting snippets all over the forums.

Sigurd and Gudrun Super Deluxe will be available to ship to the USA at the same time as the rest of the world, now that HC and Houghton Mifflin have an arrangement in place. Only the Super Deluxe editions are covered, though, so other titles/specials from tolkien.co.uk are still not allowed to ship to the USA.
