When I looked at the auction, I happened across another ebay Listing. This one is for the blue single volume signed/limited edition from 1991, but the seller claims it is signed by Rayner Unwin as well.

I bid fairly high myself and other people must have bid higher than me and it still hasn't hit the reserve so who knows what they want for it. If it's at the price I think it is then there are several other copies at that price on david's site and tolkien library so I doubt it's going to be a steal for anyone.

If you don't already own this box-set, then you may well be interested in this eBay auction, no idea what the reserve is?

This is an edition of Alan Lee's signed deluxe 3 volume illustrated Lord of the Rings.

That teapot is a corker! Whatever does it have to do with Tolkien, or any of his works? I notice a lot of that on etsy.com. People list items with Tolkien as a keyword even though the connection is tenuous at best; and often non-existent.

When something like the following shows up for sale: http://cgi.ebay.ca/J-R-R-Tolkien-Sign ... tible&hash=item4aa86c0e09 how does one determine whether or not it is potentially authentic or fraudulent?

frogtown as a reputable eBay seller have done the right thing and withdrawn the sale.
