Given the 30% discount and GBP 5.00 postage to Aus, I decided to get another copy of the signed CoH to shove under the bed for 25 years. The interesting thing is whether it will beat a bank account in terms of ROI at the end of the period. I'm not convinced it will, but I'll take the punt..!

My copy number is 443, so there aren't that many left unsold at this point. I guess they might discount further, but I'm thinking 30% off might be as good as it gets. Having said that, who knows - maybe 40% discount is just around the corner?

Hi Jeniveve - the info. about the dust jackets of the HM 1st ed. LotR is quite involved. Steve Frisby made a masterly study of the variations in the first US edition, back in 1999; including much about the dust jackets. This was published in a magazine called _The Tolkien Collector, written and published by Wayne Hammond and Christina Scull. Here's a link to their page.

http://mysite.verizon.net/wghammond/collect.html

The article was published in three parts, in issues 20, 21 and 22. Unfortunately back issues aren't available at the moment; I suggest you contact Wayne and Christina and see what the situation is.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me where I might find a list of points to identify US Houghton Mifflin first edition/first impression dust jackets for all 3 books in The Lord of the Rings trilogy ('54, '55, '56). The books have been confirmed however I have not been able to find dust jacket information anywhere...
Many thanks in advance,
Jennifer

ps: wow 33 people viewed my post and no one has any suggestions as to how I might verify what I have? Yikes. Not even the name of a book I could buy with this information in it? Does it exist at all?
Thanks for anyone willing to assist!
