I did a quick search online and found this site that has about a dozen figures and images that might be useful. I also put a request into Britains for more information if they will give it to me.

I do not know much about this topic, but the ones I have seen were made in 2002 and are tied into the New Line Cinemas movies. They were 1/32 scale. I have seen them for sale on EBay a few times, usually for pretty cheap (i.e. ~$5). There are currently examples of Galadriel, Bilbo, and Saruman on EBay now. One would have to assume that all of the major characters (Gandalf, Frodo, Aragorn, etc.) were made.

Does anyone know about the LOTR figures released by Britain? I DO NOT mean any figures released in tha nation of Great Britain but am referring to the figures produced by the toy soldier company named Britains. They are known for very high quality toy soldiers. I would like to know several things if possible.
- variety of figures produced
- materials used
- size
- original price

if you have any of this info, it would be most appreciated if you would post here. Thanks.

I must say, that I think it is a shame Tolkien was ever in a situation where he had to sell the movie rights to any of his works. I'm not sure that movies should ever have been made, and I don't think he wanted that either. I would be lying if I said that I did not enjoy Peter Jackson's films, but I was perfectly happy with the books by themselves. This said, I would prefer that the first and second ages of middle earth be left alone. These stories (Silmarillion, etc.) are the 'legends' and traditions that are meant to color and enrich The Lord of the Rings, as if they have been passed down through the ages. I say, leave them to the imagination.

It is interesting Nasmith added that, though it is a wonderful little sketch. Beleg meets Gollum; sounds like a bad piece of fanfic!

I bet that will reach £500 at least before the 9 days are up.
