Updated the Calendar of the Month feature for May at:

www.angelfire.com/tn3/tolkiencalendars

It's one that I only recently "discovered".

Hi,

It appears you have a 3rd Impression from 1963.

As to value, unfortunately looks like not very much. There are a number of copies on ABE as follows:

Regards.

Heya!

I've got two questions about an edition of Pearl I bought lately:

1) In book it says 'First published in 1953' but below on the page it says 'Reprinted (...) from sheets of the first edition 1958, 1963'
Is it a first impression or not?

2) What would the value of the book be?

Thanks Remy, the White Paperback is also 894 pages with a small font, so this copy must have a larger typeface, I think I will get a copy.

I haven't examined the text at all and am not sure if any of the text has been revised.

But as to physical size. It is indeed quite a bit larger than the earlier edition. It measures 7.75 Inches x 5 Inches x 2 Inches and has 894 Numbered Pages.

It matches the New Children of Hurin, 3 Vol Lord of the Rings, Alan Lee Illustrated Hobbit and the History of the Hobbit Paperbacks (8 Paperbacks in all) - All published on the same day.
