(Deagol) You say its likely to be a Clowes book rather than a Billing copy; I take it it doesn't have a copyright page then?

My confusion around the Folio prices is simply over the prices paid for later impressions, when the 1997 1rst impression comes up (probably) more frequently. There seems to be (at present) no graduation in prices through the impressions (with the highest prices being realised for 1rst impressions). Buyers seem to be paying £20-25+ for any impression; which shows an alarming disregard for collecting etiquette ( )

You drive a hard bargain – you can have it for £10 all-in – one consolation (for you) is that you do not have to hear the cries of my children, for bread...

I have been checking up on Variant 3 of the Silmarillion dummy. It has no jacket, but it does have the 'Realms of the Noldor and Sindar' map on the left hand side page, so is likely to be a Clowes book rather than a Billing copy.

It is out of print (I think) so they are getting scarce.
Back in 2000-2001 they sold for silly money until it was reprinted in 2002.

The latest update at TolkienBooks.net has been completed. There should be something to interest everybody I think!

This latest update to the bibliography covers the period 1925-1937.

Conversational Course: English. 1930Spanning the period from J.R.R. Tolkien becoming a Professor at Oxford until the publication of The Hobbit, this was perhaps the most productive period of his writing life: As well as publishing more than a dozen poems, revising and expanding 'The Silmarillion', and writing The Hobbit, Mr. Bliss and Roverandom, Tolkien was also making his professional name with the publication of an edition of Sir Gawain, and papers on subjects including the 'AB Language’ and Beowulf.

New entries to the 1925-1937 section include:

Conversational Course: English - 1930 - This English language course by Linguaphone includes two recordings by Tolkien and Professor A. Lloyd James.

Tolkien Studies IV - 2007 - As well as reprinting Tolkien's essay The Name ‘Nodens’, this volume also includes extracts from unpublished drafts of The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth.

The Life of Joseph Wright - 1932 - This biography includes brief extracts from a letter to Joseph Wright, where Tolkien reveals that it was Wright’s works that had introduced him to philology as a schoolboy.

La Kunularo de l' Ringo - 2007 - This is the updated Esperanto translation of The Fellowship of the Ring. It is prefaced by A Philologist on Esperanto, a reprint of Tolkien’s letter to the secretary of the Education Committee of the British Esperanto Association.

Tolkien and the Spirit of the Age. 1987An Edition of The Life and the Passion of Saint Juliana - 1936 - 1961 - 1990 - Three entries for S.R.T.O. d'Ardenne's thesis have been added. The book is dedicated to Tolkien. D’Ardenne admitted privately that Tolkien should have been credited as a joint editor.

In addition, all images have been replaced with newer, higher resolution scans and many entries have been revised and expanded.

Articles Updated
Christopher Tolkien: A Bibliography - Three additions: Arda 1986 (Contains comments by CRT on The Clerke's Compleinte), Microphones in Middle-earth (A CD including extracts from a tape prepared by CRT to aid pronunciation of names in the BBC's radio serialisation of LotR) and The Children of Húrin (An audio book read by CRT and Christopher Lee).

Tolkien Calendars - The 2008 HarperCollins calendar has been added and the table of equivalent years has been amended and expanded.

Tolkien’s Languages and Alphabets - Details of Issue 17 of Parma Eldalamberon added.

Printing and Binding The Lord of the Rings - Note regarding the 3rd Impression of The Fellowship of the Ring corrected (Re: Quantity of paper used for the cancel leaf).

There have also been a large number of updates elsewhere in the bibliography:
