I'm glad to hear that they will be available to those outside the UK. I'll believe you over someone at the Tolkien forums any day!

Any idea if they will impose a limit of number of copies per buyer? (Not that I think very many people will be able to afford one, let alone more than one, but there are some people out there who might snap up quite a few on speculation. Not me... Have a hard enough time getting one for myself on my current budget.)

Hi Phil and Anthony,

who would be best between you two to interview about this with some questions for the Guide? I have a copy coming, so I will get to see it first-hand soon, and I can't wait.

A fine question, and I don't have my pile of references handy for accuracy. I don't remember there being any one specific sale or auction where his library was sold off. There were certainly some bulk sales made to dealers both when he was alive (moving to smaller quarters) and by the family later, but there are no catalogs (auction or dealer) for any significant part of his library in one sale.

Amazon's UNBOX program has launched, offering media downloads over the network to your computer, iPod, or other media device (such as TiVo box). There is some free content, but most of it is charged either for rental (playable for any 24 hour period in a 30 day window) or purchase (plays on multiple PCs or devices, keep forever).

Has anybody tried this service? Currently there is only one Tolkien related video available, shown here:

While a bit late in the coming (the book has been available for more than a year now), I have finally had the time to put up a Tolkienina Mathomium Book review page.
