Awesome! Sounds like they held ten copies for various special people (I'm sure Christopher, Alan, etc.) and you got the first copy publically available. Just a guess, but you do have a good relationship with David.

Put this up just in time for the holidays. I got this copy from Patrick Breen, the son of Walter Breen and Marion Zimmer Bradley (noted names from Tolkien fandom in the 60's and early 70's.)

I hope it makes someone a nice present!

Yep, I just checked my records and I bought one of those super-cheap Silmarillion Deluxe books from him back in 2004. I remember thinking that they must have been selling really poorly and so HarperCollins must have been putting them out as remainders.

I also don't think that HC will be going after the buyers - not only does it sound like they are getting restitution from the thief, but the cost of tracking down and reclaiming the stolen property is likely to be higher than the value of the merchandise to them, so they would lose more money in the process.

On this note - I was thinking of putting together a page in the Guide somewhere that has a dynamic list of all Tolkien related eBay auctions currently running that are listed by TCG members (basically any of you that want me to include your listings.) Would that be useful or interesting?
