There is now an American deluxe edition with a bookplate on eBay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260130456166

I haven't heard of any loose bookplates that individuals could have to put in deluxe American editions, nor have I heard of Houghton Mifflin giving any away if they had held onto any bookplates this long.

The deluxe edition in the US was released almost a month after the bookplates were all given away in the USA.

Beren, any possibility this is real?

Hey Beren,

I got the poster tube finally today (must have been customs holding it up) and I found some TolkienLibrary bookmarks inside. Cool! I'm so jealous, I have to go figure out how to print up some of my own now.

Can I add them to the Art/Bookmarks section of the Guide now?

Christie's auction page

Very nice handwritten letter to Pauline Baynes up for sale at Christie's. Dated 1949, talks about Farmer Giles proofs of her artwork, and the possibility of her illustrating the next big project he is working on ("a long romance in sequel to "The Hobbit" ").

Est. £3000 - £4000

Sale date is July 3, 2007 at the London, King Street auction house.

I have added an article to the database for Bloomsbury Auctions results over the past few years (going back to late 1998).

Bloomsbury Auctions article

I hope to add similar data pages for Bonhams, Christie's, Sotheby's and other auction houses as time permits.

Useful? Better way to organize the data? Let me know!
