Personally, I'm not a fan of tipped in signatures.

I noticed today that HarperCollins are closing down the forum attached to the web site (http://www.tolkienforum.co.uk/) on the 4th February.

I am amazed it has lasted this long as it has very little to do with Tolkien.

This seller has some other "well-loved" items for sale as well

I completely agree with garm's comment

by garm on 2011/1/24 19:52:46 There are some - not on this website, but some folk on another website on which I lurk - who would call a sorry-looking book like that 'well-loved'! If it were a horse or a dog, folk would be up in arms!

I don't know why but books in this condition make me very sad, why could they not be looked after better

"In good condition but without dustjacket and maps, lettering on spine slightly faded, very valuable and collectible." In good condition ????

mysterious imitation, hand-signed by ?, close-enough though

I agree, but it is also close enough to a 5 year old using a marker pen, perhaps he should insert that in the listing.
