I have just bought the PAL VHS 110 minute copy and agree that this makes very interesting viewing.

I also bought a copy of the Japanese DVD mentioned by Jeremy earlier in the post.

The DVD said that it was narrated by Judy Dench, same as the VHS, so I gambled on it being subtitled in Japanese.

The interviews are subtitled, but the narration is dubbed, so unless you are fluent in Japanese, I would not buy the DVD

Thanks for that Beren.

But you should not have to tell people this, Harper Collins should do it themselves.

Why do they not do it?

This has also been raised on the forums at tolkien.co.uk Forums

It appears that a Paperback copy of the Illustrated Silmarillion (Ted Naysmith illustrator) may also come out in October, but again Harper Collins would prefer us to stumble upon it, not tell us directly.

I am wondering if anyone can shed any light on the following.

In October Harper Collins are issuing a normal and deluxe version of "Tales from the Perilous Realm".

I believe that Harper Collins are also, in November, issuing a signed copy of the Deluxe Tales from the Perilous Realm from their web site.

Deluxe Signed Edition

Can anyone confirm this?

Also, why don't Harper Collins try to always inform people like us about new editions, surely it can not be that hard for them to email people or use a web site like tolkien.co.uk? How is this handled by Houghton Mifflin?

I appreciate that Beren does get some information from them, but I have registered with them for email updates about Tolkien but get no useful updates.

I do not know about the signature but I think as has been pointed out before,

"happy to sell cheap cos no provenance"

Provenance is becoming vital with Tolkien signatures

I think you should go back to the book dealer and sell it to him for $200 as you are very unlikely to get this price elsewhere.

The book is quite common, I bought a copy in pretty good condition recently for $30, which was cheap as the book would normally sell for $50-$100.
