I have a fairly comprehensive collection of all the Impressions that exist (one doesn't) and Publishers of the GA&U Silmarillion from 1977.

Deagol states on his wonderful (forgot to say fantastic) website http://www.tolkienbooks.net/php/details.php?reference=62120 that there is a difference in colour on the dust jackets of the first export edition.

"The difference in colour between the two dustwrapper variants is subtle, but is noticeable when the two are placed next to each other."

I can't see this at all, all my copies look identical in colour, all 8 of them.

So if you have copies of the first Export Edition (printed by Clowes), can you confirm this statement, as I much I'd like to, I can't.

Beren has posted a transcript of an interview with Tolkien on his web site http://www.tolkienlibrary.com/press/8 ... en_1971_BBC_Interview.php and mentioned finding these recordings by looking on the Internet.

A good place to start is the New York Times which has quite a lot of Tolkien material including original book reviews, his obituary and a video interview with Raynor Unwin. Be aware that not all the links still work (sadly the Tolkien Audio link does not work, but I think from memory it is the Interview above) but I recommend you take a look.

I think it would make a great commercial DVD and it would sell very well over the next couple of years because of the Hobbit films.

I asked David Brawns from Harper Collins last year if they would consider releasing this on DVD and he said that HC would consider it.

Beren, with your contacts at HC could you give him a gentle reminder.

Yet another one, As far as I can see this is a fake.
Does anyone think it is real?
If you agree with me then please report to eBay
