Another quality Ebay item, with a very unusual signature but I suppose it is what you should expect from someone who dies 16 years before they signed the book.

The usual request please report to Ebay, they only seem to do anything about these if a few people complain.

EDIT: I looked at it again and it could be signed by John Tolkien I suppose in which case it may be genuine, are examples of his signature anywhere on the Internet to compare with, I only have examples of Christopher and Michael's signature.

Out of interest I added up the current prices on Amazon.co.uk for the 4 books in the J.R.R. Tolkien Box Set which is being sold for £200 by HC direct. They are £214 from Amazon with current discounts, both have free delivery.

I do struggle to see who this set is aimed at as I expect most collectors would already have first impressions of these books and will not spend £200 on a second set which really just includes a second slipcase and not even first impression books.

I have just bought 2 copies on the web site (£350 each) not £300 as earlier stated as I live in the UK. Unfortunately as stated earlier by Harper Collins you can only buy these if you are in the UK mainland or Channel Islands.

More information here on the tolkien.co.uk web site

http://www.tolkien.co.uk/forum.aspx?g=posts&t=468

Looks like you can only buy it through the store on the tolkien.co.uk web site and is only available for delivery to the UK, which is a surprise.

I looked at this and thought that this must have come from somewhere else on the Internet, looked like it had been cut and pasted, and a quick search on google shows the real culprit.

Search.com web page, Skiatook

I am struggling to see who to contact to get the Tolkien reference removed. Does anyone have any ideas?
