Every time I go to PBFA fair I get some flyer about a company who provide specialist book (collection) insurance --I don't have the information to hand, and have no idea how reputable they are, but clearly there are companies out there providing this kind of service. That aside, all you can do is insure to value. I mean, never mind if you could replace them (i.e. if they are one-off's) --what would they cost right now to acquire? And make sure you are insured over and above this. If your house burns down --what have you lost in monetary terms?

No; should I?

I genuinely thought you'd gone on eBay and had a good loook for me...

What good's a damn 9th!?

Jeremy, I have an 8th --but that doesn't match, & ain't the earliest example of this format. There's actually a 7th on eBay at present (BIT £14.99, or something --surprised you didn't find it...); but it's price-clipped. And we can't have that either...

Looking for a 1973 TT (7th imp.) with the purple cover i.e. the first impression(s) to have this new cover, back in the 70's (--after the grey jackets, that were intoduced with the 2nd edition.)

TolkienBooks

Doesn't have to be F or anything; just to complete an o/w VG/VG set. Anyone have one knocking around?

Nice detective work, indeed. I don't look in for two days and this thread has exploded into life. Having nothing to add, and only having EP's The Silmarillion (why would I buy anything else! ) --all I will say is: their Silmarillion appears to have all the textual errors from the first impression present; presumably because they used this text (photographically) for their edition. Think they might want to update that too...
