Thanks for the pictures. It looks somewhat nicer, indeed. But as Karl states, too bad they didn't do anything new with the set. Where did you buy it? I see it's not for sale on HC's tolkien.co.uk site...

I have the 4-volume set, a very nice set indeed. Does anyone have a picture of this 5-volume set? I'd like to see it, but I can't seem to find a picture of it.

I recently bought this book by professor Tolkien's Belgian philologist friend Simonne D'Ardenne. On the third page there is this interesting dedication:

PROFESSOR J.R.R. TOLKIEN
In Memoriam

The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne...

Professor D'Ardenne also refers to Tolkien's 1962 edition of Ancrene Wisse at the beginning of the prefatory note:

It follows in most respects the principles stated in the prefatory note to the various editions of the Ancrene Riwle published in that series, especially that by Professor Tolkien (no. 249, 1962)

Just wanted to bring this to your attention, as I did not know about this book before.

I had the same experience once. I bought an English Linguaphone set, with the "At the tobacconist's" and "Wireless" lessons, only to conclude that the set was an Italian course for English speakers and not vice versa. That was a bummer
