Got another copy through from HarperCollins (which was nice of them). Looks like standard tolkien.co.uk packaging (sturdy cardboard envelope - thicker than the BD ones) -- has provided the necessary protection and no bumps! Two copies of a slipcased book with no bumps -- this has to be a record!

Pity they printed 8,000 jackets. Unlikely there will ever be a chance to correct the word spacing, etc, on the flaps (very minor, but would have been nice to have corrected if the chance had arisen).

I'd be surprised if it sells out rapidly, personally. 4,000 is not insubstantial. I think all the people who really want a copy should be able to get one with no drama (which is good, as the problem with a lot of special edition type printings is they are either too limited or too expensive for the average punter to consider).

That was quick.

I don't suppose they took a giant delivery all at once, so probably will just get more stock from HC.

Ooops, correction. That is the HarperCollins website, was thinking it was Amazon.

Well, I don't think most people would react well to that even if they know they are (Did you call him that in person?)

I just ignore anything that has his name on it.

[Edit: Just deleted everything I wrote, as I don't want to have more grief with Mr. Day, be it now or in a decade when he stumbles across this thread and blows a fuse because someone thinks his books are basically endlessly recycled used toilet paper]

I dislike him more than any other person that I have never met. I'd ritually burn his books, but it feels disrespectful to my mum who gave me them. That said, next year might be a cold winter. That and I have been known to run out of toilet paper.
