Since the only copyright notice in the book is to the Peterson Publishing Company, there's no acknowledgment of Tolkien's copyright, there's no mention of permission to reprint his poem

Yes, I also noticed the lack of adequate copyright attribution when I gave it a closer inspection. Seems like an odd thing for a publisher to get wrong, though. I would have expected that IP rights and authorisation would be the very first things to address before even embarking on such a project.

Nice little book, mind. Might even end up being rare...

Does anyone know why this was withdrawn from sale? I had ordered a copy from BD before it became unavailable (and it finally arrived today more than 5 weeks after being posted -- I had given it up for lost). I notice that the copyright states "(c) 2012" (rather than 2011) and I wondered if it perhaps had to be pulled because of legal reasons related to this...

Has anyone seen this for sale in Australia, yet? We don't have that many proper bookshops left in Brisbane, and even the better ones don't tend to stock hardbacks...

Edit: I just wandered down to the local bookshop and they just got it in since the weekend. It is definitely a lot different than the second printing, so the hardcore collectors will no doubt want both.

I think it has been re-listed together with the release of the Art of the Hobbit, the Pocket Hobbit etc.
I bought my set 2 weeks ago from The Book Depository UK

What impressions are in the set?

Stu

I can now answer this one myself:

Vol 1 - 6th Impression
Vol 2 - 5th Impression
Vol 3 - 5th Impression.

Seems to be available at Book Depository:

http://www.bookdepository.com/Complet ... her-Tolkien/9780007105083

Not sure if this is old stock that has turned up or a listing error.

Stu

Edit: Seems like this has been reprinted. The Tolkien.co.uk site also has it listed.
