Did it sell? I was trying to get a deal done with the seller but haven't heard back in a few days.

I didn't even try. I figured there was a 100% chance of there being other people prepared to may more than me. I suspect I will never have one of these!

I wonder if "Tolkien's Corrigan Poems" is simply a commentary by VF on various drafts of the Lay or if Tolkien wrote multiple poems that include reference to Corrigan (I'm not aware that he did)?

At the end of the day, it is a short poem, so the commentary giving context and explanation shouldn't really be a hundred pages long, unless intended to pad. Verbosity is not a virtue, and neither - necessarily - is squeezing in every draft.

Just had a look at my copy of The Welsh Review, which is an A5 booklet, with 63 pages, Tolkien's poem is on 11 pages of A5 printed on both sides, I am struggling with how this can become a 120 page book.

VERY large text for the poem + related essays + some plates + other blurb got the English language component of the Serbian edition to that. It is really a stretch, though.

I'm looking forward to Tolkien's annotated weekly shopping list in 2018, with 150 pages of detailed commentary on the impact of soap powder on Tolkien's thinking.

The title (in your browser) of the linked HarperCollins web page states "The Lay of Aotrou and Itroun - Verlyn Flieger - eBook". That's the only reference I could see to Flieger.

I guess it would need some additional material by someone in order to bulk it up from being a small pamphlet... I enjoyed the Serbian edition; A few bits of tortured English here and there, but overall a worthy volume.

I'm not sure judging one's intentions or personal ethics is a proper thing to do. But being judgmental is part of the human condition. So, feeling the need to explain my prices...I have researched ebay and Abe and priced my books slightly over what I found. For example, a decent number of the super deluxe CoH that I see on ebay are priced right around $1000 so at my price I have the ability to negotiate substantially. And this is the approach I took with all of my postings. For what it's worth, I had no idea that the signed CoH or the super deluxe were still available from the publisher. This will affect future postings of said items. And to touch on what trotter said, I wouldn't think someone was unethical or a cheat if they offered me $300 for the super deluxe CoH. Most people want a deal. The thing is I can say no or counter offer, which is also the luxury of the buyer.

I am heartened to hear your claim that you were not aware that the CoH is still available new, but I think we will all need to disagree on this issue. I judge the other sellers trying to make $1000+ for these books equally harshly, if it helps. Some are professional book dealers that surely DO know the book is still available new.

Anyway, I'll say no more! Good luck with your sales, and I hope you have success getting prices that are fair for seller and buyer.
