For the record, this was the response I received when I inquired about the item's provenance: "I bought it in a [sic] anticuary in UK."

I compared 3 of the volumes randomly between HC & HM--BLT 1, Shaping of Me, and War of the Jewels were all the same.

On a side note, I hate that the Del Rey paperbacks have completely different pagination--it is so annoying.

HM have also released books 1, 2, and 3 in paperback (I believe that is it); I sure wish they had done all of them. If anyone knows of any other HM paperbacks of HoMe books, please let me know.

The signature looks good to me. Another option would be to sell it on eBay.

So I picked this up the other day. Does anyone else have an uncorrected proof copy of Monsters & the Critics (British or American)?

Just trying to figure out how common it is. Even if it is rather easy to come by, I'm glad I bought it. $70 seems like a reasonable price even if it is not worth anything.

Let me know what you think.

Josh

I posted a pic for those interested.

That is the most ridiculous listing I've ever seen. I really think at this point it is starting to get out of hand; I think the Tolkien Estate or Christopher Tolkien should be contacted. That seller needs to be removed from eBay. It really is disheartening that eBay continues to allow the seller to list such items, despite the many reports that have been made.

I reported the item; please do likewise.
