Does anyone know how much this set usually sells for or its general value? I'm not selling the set but thinking of buying it.

If any of you are looking for a copy of War and the Works of J.R.R. Tolkien by Janet Brennan Croft, there is a reasonably priced copy on the UK Amazon (about 15 pounds): http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-list ... 5&creativeASIN=0313325928

By the way, I do not know the seller; I'm just trying to make you guys aware of the book. It seemed like a decent deal.

About six months ago, I found a proof copy of English & Medieval Studies Presented to J. R. R. Tolkien on the Occasion of his 70th Birthday. Has anyone ever seen a copy of this before?

I believe it is an uncorrected bound proof and not an advance reading copy as the book is paperback and the blurb for it is stapled to the inside of the cover. It also has a stamp on the cover that reads "Book Proof" with a date of Nov. 1962.

Thanks a lot Beren! I really do appreciate it. Though it is obviously unfortunate that those endpapers were removed, at least the books weren't completely disposed of. It seems from all the evidence that the books I purchased are pretty legitimate, though I guess no one can ever be 100% sure because the books no longer contain the signatures.
