The 18/9/2012 date is probably the date of the original release of the film edition with the Bag-End doorway cover rather than the date for the Smaug eye cover. Possibly due to the previous database record being only partially updated.

The databases that drive sites like Amazon are chock full of errors, for instance, a lot of the current HarperCollins paperback editions on Amazon claim to be in French!

It's a big chunk, roughly A4 size and maybe an inch and a half ish thick.

Personally I would say yes if you find a reasonably priced copy. It is a handsome volume.
It adds info to books published before 1996 and also includes full details of the 1997 Tolkien editions and also the deluxe editions.
I am a bit of an anorak for these things though!

Thanks.

I have also made some updates to various pages for Folio Society editions, based on info gleaned from Folio 60, a bibliography of FS publications.

Pages for three volume and seven volume editions of The Lord of the Rings updated.
Nothing spectacular really, but the identical covers on the A- and B-format film tie-in paperbacks with overlapping ISBNs are bound to confuse.
