We saw some of it at the TS AGM. It is 'roughcut' working footage not the high quality colour copy - which may or may not still exist somewhere in the BBC archives.

What we saw consisted of clips where Tolkien phrases his comments in a way that is conversational rather than the sound-bite statements that are needed for broadcast in a documentary - so he would agree with the interviewer and then go on to talk more rather than just making a standalone statement. This is very difficult to edit apparently. Basically the 90 minutes are what was left on the cutting room floor.

The tape belongs to LM but the copyright belongs to the BBC.

You can see his talk on the TS website - but not the Tolkien bits unfortunately due to copyright. LM can explain it much more clearly than I.

There was some talk of showing it at Oxonmoot but no idea if this will prove to be possible - there are permissions issues to address and so on.

I've got one of these. Not at home to check, but my booklist says 1966.

I'd be interested to know if it was issued in wrappers or if the image on TolkienBooks is the 'cover'. My own copy is bound with other copies of the bulletin.

http://www.tolkienbooks.net/php/details.php?reference=11840

I have seen a scanned copy of MLR for 1923 but it looks like it is assembled from a number of sources and bound together.

It does include page 7.

Does the pdf include the cover?
