Hi folks

Has anyone outside the US received their copy of Tolkien Studies 6 yet? I thought they were due out by now.

The Tolkien Society's Oxonmoot will take place from 25 to 27 September 2009. Online bookings will open shortly. However, if anyone would like to have a table in the dealer's room, please let me know. The more, the merrier!

I have had quite a few catalogues, adverts etc passed to me recently.

Jonkers Rare Books are having a sale, including a 1st ed, 1st printing Hobbit for £5,200.

Nigel Sustins has a new double "Christianity and Literature" CD set for sale, although the ad doesn't directly mention Tolkien.

Amazon is listing "The Hobbitonian Anthology: of Articles on J.R.R. Tolkien and his Legendarium (The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings)", by Mark T. Hooker.

chris1224 has many Tolkien records and fanzines listed on eBay. (Disclosure: I have known the seller for many years, but I don't stand to profit from the sale!)

Mark Faith (not Mark Francis, as I said earlier) is selling John Garth's research collection, and also two hand written post cards and envelope from J.R.R. Tolkien to Miss D. (Deirdre) Levinson.

If you would like me to forward any of the emails to you, drop me a line at andrew at avro707 dot force9 dot co dot uk

I have a copy of this to dispose of. It is the 1940 Clark Hall edition, ie the first with Tolkein's preface. No jacket, worn boards, some pencil annotations, binding sound. I'm interested in offers above £35 plus p&p.

If anyone is interested, let me know, and I can send you some photos (although these will take a few days to arrange, as I'm away from home at the moment). My email is andrew at avro 707 dot force9 dot co dot uk.

"An unexpected treasure has been discovered by two sharp-eyed charity bookshop volunteers.

Christine and Robert Williams were sorting through the latest delivery of donations to the National Trust’s second-hand bookshop at Mottisfont, when they came across a small, hardback book, complete with beautifully illustrated dust jacket.

It was a rare 1956 first edition of the children’s novel, The Last Battle, by CS Lewis, which could be worth £1,000. "
