I know not really a directly related Tolkien suject but I was after anyones help.

I recently purchased an original Pauline Baynes drawing (some of you may have seen it at large auction house) of three pirates.

I have just received it and must say the detail is absolutely fantastic. There is a faint 'box' in pencil around the drawing and a quote underneath refering to Henry Morgan the legendary pirate.

To me it looks like it was intended as a book illustration as there are also some references noted at the bottom.

I have tried without success to try and find any images/information on any Baynes pirate illustrations.

Anyone come accross any?

Wayne - was hoping maybe you have come across some in your forthcoming Baynes book research?

Any help /info appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry camera broken otherwise i would have posted a picture!

what is going on in the world?
My thoughts/conclusions are 3 fold:
1 Bidders simply do not understand that some sellers are putting a high price in off chance some mug will bid for it without checking the rest of ebay first!

2 Bidders get carried away with battle to win

3 Foul play at work

Let you draw own conclusions

LOL
Now that would have been a good deal. Are you sending back?
This is the problem with ebay - you are relying on sellers description and sometimes forget to ask the obvious. I have just brought two items - both were sent but itturned out someone elses photo was used ! Pleasingly seller refunded in full on one immediately and waiting ebay judgement on other one today.
Keep looking for those bargains
