A letter from Tolkien to a Mr. Hooton, written on 13 February 1963 has turned up on eBay. Appears to be a form letter?
In any case, each seller gets at least one thing wrong in the description: this sale has "Mr. Hotton", and an earlier sale called the writer of the letter "Tolkein"...

The shop would have no reason to randomly make this up though I can't think of any reason. And not only regarding the shop - I can't think of any reason why the eBay-seller would make this up. No idea. Nothing. There are no such reasons. No.
