Have a look here:

http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Index:Interviews_with_J.R.R._Tolkien

It may not be complete or fully correct (it's a wiki), but it's pretty well referenced, so you can use it as a basis for further investigation.

Edit: On a second reading I see you mean "recorded" as in an audio recording, not as in "record"="store information". Anyway -- hope you find something useful!

I have my Hobbit facsimile on a pre-order from Amazon UK -- thanks for all your efforts with the dust jacket, Stu, and for sharing your thoughts here. It's interesting to follow the process (although I have much less time nowadays to spend on the JRRT hobby)! And I recognize dealing with the wife's patience... happy wife, happy life!

Letter up for auction in Sweden (and thus perhaps not showing up on everyone's radar):

Crafoord auctions

688 TOLKIEN, J. R. R. (1892-1973). TYPED & SIGNED LETTER. Typed & Signed letter to the Swedish biographer professor Arne Zettersten. 1 A 4-page sent from J.R.R. Tolkien, 76 Sandhurst Road, Headington, Oxford 19th May 1959 to Dr. Arne Zettersten in Lund Sweden. Signed "Yours sincerely J.R.R. Tolkien". They met as scientific linguists which ended in life long friendship. Zettersten published the biography J.R.R. Tolkien's Double Worlds and Creative Process: Language and Life, 2011. Tolkien writes to Zettersten as a linguist collegaue.

J.R.R.Tolkien: Codemaker, Spy-master, Hero: au unauthorised biography

Hmm, I will probably pass this one. Too speculative for my taste. From the Amazon description: "With careful examination of Tolkien's existing biographies and the inadequacies of the explanations given and perpetuated from one biographer to the next, a persuasive picture is built up of what Tolkien may have been involved in over a period of decades. The writings themselves are amongst the most revealing proof of Tolkien's preoccupation with espionage and Intelligence and they are analysed closely and carefully"

Just a reminder that you can now buy the October 2014 Journal of Inklings Studies.

Thanks, Trotter! I've been checking their website regularly, but had failed to see that it's now available -- didn't want to miss out on this one!
