For me it's a toss up between the Gandalf Paper Weight and the Sting Sword Pen and Bookmark!

Apparently it "provides in-depth analysis of the live-action trilogy and other related films, alongside games, puzzles, and interviews with the filmmakers"

Nothing like in-depth analysis, along with games and puzzles!

"Is merchandise collection an exuberant outgrowth of your love for Tolkien? Or are we just suckers for a conga-line of corporate bloodsuckers out to inflate their profits...?"

I would suggest that if your "love for Tolkien" manifests itself in the desire to collect movie memorabilia; you probably fit the description being offered.

Tolkien wrote books; what does that have to do with action figures, costume jewelry or polystone (whatever that is) sculptures?

Somehow I doubt that collecting, reading and studying the written works of J.R.R. Tolkien will qualify someone as a "superfan" in the eyes of that lot at TORN, and I'm very glad of it.

I thought this made for an interesting picture. All three versions have Father Giles of Ham in the list of Books by J.R.R. Tolkien, and have the points in the index (no period after Feanor, italicized and). The largest version is a HM first edition I bought in 1977, the smallest is the taiwan edition, and I have always assumed the middle one is the book club edition.
