I suppose one could always visit the forum at theonering.net; and there happily discuss everything from "leggy's" love interests to the role of the warrior elf-maiden "Itaril" in the upcoming Hobbit movie.

That teapot is a corker! Whatever does it have to do with Tolkien, or any of his works? I notice a lot of that on etsy.com. People list items with Tolkien as a keyword even though the connection is tenuous at best; and often non-existent.

When something like the following shows up for sale:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/J-R-R-Tolkien-Sign ... tible&hash=item4aa86c0e09
how does one determine whether or not it is potentially authentic or fraudulent?

I was wondering if someone could help me with this. I recently acquired an older copy of The Return of the King published by Houghton Mifflin. There is no date inside the book, only that it was printed in Great Britain. The dust jacket does have the date "1954" on the back panel. Obviously not a 1954 edition, but was wondering what year it was printed. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
