Dear friends,
Long ago, I bought an American edition of The Hobbit. The book does not mention the date, but it was printed in England by "Unwin Brothers" and should be a copy of 1954.
The strange thing, is that I have found a mistake in the index: "Fore and Water" instead of "Fire and Water".
The title of the chapter, however, is written correctly.

Do you know of this same error in other editions?

Some days ago, I bought a first edition of "The Lord of the Rings", 1954-1955 (2/2/1). I've also the first edition 4/2/2.

I've compared the "The Two Towers" (2/2) and "The Return of the King" (1/2), and I have found some differences, that I reported in a note on my website.

What do you think about that?

Thanks for the compliments,

@Urulöké: yes, every shelf is double-stacked. My collection has about 1,700 books from 44 countries (from 1915 to the present).
