Jacket covering/slipcase issue

Yep - common problem. For most boxed sets I don't cover the jackets (unless the slipcase is loose enough, of course). I usually just turn the slipcase so the books are facing the back of the shelf and are protected from any stray UV. Don't be tempted to try and shove them in or you will probably damage the slipcase. If you have shelf room, you can put the slipcase on the shelf, rear out and then just put the (covered) books next to it. I used to do that sometimes, but ran out of room.

I tend to avoid using my paper-backed jacket covers & use my archival (transparent plastic only) jacket covers; they're very slightly less bulky because of the lack of paper. You can also buy covers (or make your own) which only really cover the spines and covers & don't have layers of wrap-round i.e. what sellers use at book fairs. Again, this cuts down on the bulk of the covering & usually allows books to fit in their respective slipcases.
