Again!
This seller already listed this copy (or one very like it) closely followed by a slightly different one (again with a very distinct binding), if I recall correctly. Certainly unusual.

I'm trying to understand what it is I'm seeing here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LORD-RINGS- ... m43aad7446a#ht_500wt_1413
Is it a custom binding of the Red book of Westmarch. I haven't got a clue
Edit: looks like I posted at the same time as Elwë LOL

Rebinding books is ok, but not when they are as messed up as this
The following auction is for a rare first printing copy of The Two Towers by JRR Tolkien. As the copyright page clearly shows, it is a first printing - there were only 3250 copies printed
$650 USD

£225 for a 7th printing (and does not look to be in that good a condition). It is a mystery to me how they arrive at these prices, I would have thought £10 would be a bit on the high side (even if it had the elusive blue sticker )

Another bargain (£10 book) from the same seller who seems to live in a dreamworld or possibly faerie, I think this is an eBay seller to avoid (£195 quoted).
JRR Tolkien ~ Father Christmas Letters - [written for his own kids] 1/1 ~ 1976

Does anyone on this forum go under the eBay monker of "finnish_guy". If so, I need to plead with you to stop throwing your money away on books that are far too expensive!!!
Every time I see something that I think is *really overpriced*, this guy seems to have bought it.
Examples, I just got the John Howe slipcased centenary Harbacks in unread condition (with a HC 1st Thus Hobbit thrown in) for $36 (about 23 pounds) , but finnish_guy paid 200 pounds. What-the?
And 159 pounds for the HC Centenary Sil? Eeek.
Please finnish_guy, start being sensible, as paying crazy prices just encourages eBay sellers to ask crazy prices!
Cheers
