I don't think that listing is very helpful to your case. For one thing, it says this -

... Lastly, and published for the very first time, we are treated to the translation of Tolkien’s account of the Battle of Maldon, known as The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth.

This in a book published in 2009, 56 years after Beorhtnoth was first published.

As for 'most paperback editions since the 1970s' I can find two from the 70s in the list on Deagol's page with, and several without, Beorhtnoth. I don't think that adds up to 'most' copies.

You are right, I should have said from 1976

HarperCollins should know better as to when a book is published

I don't think Mr Faith cares less.

And out of interest How does The Professor have multiple Facebook pages. This makes me so cross

Harper Collins - indeed anyone who feels themselves qualified to comment on Tolkien's 'Homecoming' - ought to know already that it is not a

'translation of Tolkien’s account of the Battle of Maldon'.

Someone pointed out this thread on Mr Faith's Facebook advertising page, and in the interests of honesty the post was deleted and now it states "Please do not post links to other Tolkien information sites without advanced permission. Thanks."

"advanced permission", indeed. I guess you just need "normal permission" if you want to post something that he agrees with.

Hmm... the phrase

"Please do not post links to other Tolkien information sites"

suggests that Faith considers his Facebook advertising page to be one which gives information on Tolkien...

No, it doesn't! All it does (apart from presumably making money for Faith with little or no outlay) is to offer mis-information on whatever items Faith has up for sale at any given time. One example of mis-information recently is his description of the
A & U 1976 de luxe Hobbit as being printed on 'Indian paper'. (sic)

Yeh, quite a bit of MF bashing going on (Trotter & garm!) here. Do you two want to maybe start a new thread, or something? (--& keep it a little less personal?)

Elwe - thanks for that link. To quote the spiel -

"To start, I am not a JR Tolkien expert... This is the first book I am listing and the gem of the collection."

Personally I wouldn't have that book in the house. I can't fathom what some folk see in it.
