[Yes, I edited this post, after not reading Trotter's original post!]

fireandwater.com website was circa 1999, soon to be replaced by tolkien.co.uk; or at least that is what happened on the copyright pages of The Silmarillion pb's around that period. That aside, what a rarity!

Very upset that you did not read my post and appreciate how ultra rare and collectable this unique super rare, very rare item is.

So this edition is at least seven years after 1992, difficult to argue it is a centenary edition

Have a look at this!!!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/J-R-R-TOLKIEN-C ... ks_GL?hash=item23058f4811

I'm sure the seller (who made a lot of effort to get a metal case), has also got permission from all the rights holders involved to sell this item and is paying royalties.

I don't understand why eBay gets away with allowing these listings and the recent pathetic typewriter listing and this nonsense at the bottom of the listing, absolute rubbish as far as I can see.

"To Whom It May Concern (inc. Ebay’s VeRo Team and The Publishers Association).

Kindly take note that these recordings are from the Writer’s Original Work, which is now in The Public Domain. They are read by Modern Readers who placed these recordings in The Public Domain. They ARE NOT copies of any other "copyrighted commercially available recordings" and as such they do not infringe any copyrights but are in full accord with Ebay’s policy"

This is what should really be at the bottom of this listing

"To Whom It May Concern (inc. Ebay’s VeRo Team and The Publishers Association).

Kindly take note that these recordings are from the Writer’s Original Work. They are read by Modern Readers who have not placed these recordings in The Public Domain. They ARE copies of "copyrighted commercially available recordings" and as such they infringe every copyright and are not in accord with any Ebay policy"
