We've heard from West Virginia University Press that this year's Tolkien Studies (Vol. IX, 2012) "will not be ready until August or September for mailing".

This was supposed to come out some time back but it finally looks like it will be published on 25 March: a translation of The Hobbit into Irish (Gaelic).
I am pre-ordering a copy. My Irish is a bit rusty but should just be about up to reading it.
It is not cheap (£34.95 GBP or $49.95 USD) but sounds like a good product (hardcover with the Tolkien colour illustrations).

Today I got my copy of the new edition of Bilbo's Last Song (Red Fox/Random House). I have to say that I was somewhat pleasantly surprised (list price only £5.99) in terms of book quality.

It appears that Tolkien is becoming very popular at the moment and quite a few new releases of The Hobbit from HarperCollins are available. I also noticed a new release of the paperback 7 volume box-set Lord of the Rings and a new hardback The ‘Father Christmas’ Letters.
The Hobbit
Some new paperbacks, covers shown here (https://www.tolkienguide.com/modules/n ... php?topic_id=1965&forum=9), nothing of note in these.
A new hardback Collector's edition has also been released, and I really like this copy, it looks like a lot of work has gone into the cloth design for the cover and the book is very well produced.
It is missing some of Tolkiens's illustrations which I'd like to seen included, so I can not give it full marks.
Beren has an article about it.

Lord of the Rings 7 volume paperback box-set
I am struggling to see much of a difference with this set from 2001, so nothing much of note

The ‘Father Christmas’ Letters
The new hardback is described by Wayne and Christina on their blog.

An excellent writeup as usual

I haven't read Wayne & Christina's blog yet, but thanks for flagging up the new collectors edition; missed that one. Just going to order it just now...

I picked up the "Letters from Father Christmas" at the weekend in Melbourne (thought I would give some money to a Bricks and Mortar store for a change). It is nice in that matches the recent "Mr Bliss". Notable that the copyright page mistakenly lists it as "This Paperback Edition", and that there is no indication of who printed it.

I love the cover for this new Hobbit. The shipping is kind of pricey from Amazon.co.uk, though.
I think I'll save a couple bucks ordering it through Abebooks (with free shipping): https://affiliates.abebooks.com/c/9724 ... an%26pfxid%3Da_1485501028
Does anyone else know where to find it in the US for cheaper?
