Did they switch printing to China?

Like I say, the book I receeived is identical in every respect to the first one, so it isn't clear whether it is a second print from the same printers without the "I" being changed to a "2" or if BD are still supplying from the first print run. Until anyone spies one with a "2", I don't think we will know.

Well, my replacement Aotrou and Itroun arrived from BD, and this time made it through in perfect condition. It is still a first impression, unlike Kullervo, which went to 2nd impression pretty much right away. Not sure if this implies less popularity or a larger print run.

I have three copies of AI; first two from SpeedyHen had dustjacket damage. They were really good at sending the replacements. The third copy was hand wrapped in tissue paper by one of the customer service team! :)

I notice that a paperback version of Jemima Caitlin's illustrated Hobbit is coming out in September 2017, but have no idea why Amazon are calling it "The Colour Illustrated Hobbit"

Maybe because people tend to think of paperbacks as being monochrome, so they are driving home that it is in colour? Just a guess, but can't see it being anything more than that.

The J. R. R. Tolkien Companion and Guide Paperback

https://www.amazon.co.uk/J-R-Tolkien-C ... collsguid-21&linkCode=osi

This appears to be a paperback version of the book and is published on the 30th November 2017 for £40.

It is listed at 800 pages, whereas the estimate for the revised edition in September is 2400 pages, so it suggests that this is a cut-down version of the Companion and Guide.

It looks like the 3 volumes for the Companion and Guide will be issued as individual hardbacks, not paperbacks as on Amazon, on the 30th November 2017 for £40 each as well as a boxed set in September.

I saw the new Lay of Aotrou and Itroun hardback in my local bookstore yesterday and was very impressed by its quality - the slipcover even had some gilt-work going on. But in the excitement of handling it, I forgot to check where it was printed and bound.

Anyway, I went ahead and ordered it from The Nile as it was too expensive to buy from the store.

Slipcase? Did I miss something?
EDIT: Sorry, I see you said "slipcover". Did you quite like the dustjacket then, Earl?

Incidentally, I see the B&L cover is up on Amazon, in case it hadn't been mentioned...

I am interested to see what HarperCollins release for B&L, they have already said that we will get a trade edition, and I expect to also see a deluxe edition, but what about a superdeluxe and would you be interested in buying a superdeluxe edition?
