I think that this is the full text of an interview that Tolkien gave to Philip Norman for The Sunday Times on the 9th August 1966 (page 672 of the Chronology by Wayne & Christina).
It was reprinted in the New York Times in January 1967. http://www.nytimes.com/1967/01/15/books/tolkien-interview.html
