I'm sure a lot of visitors to the site already know these terms but just in case.

So what are the rectangular white bits with the words on called?

I've always assumed they are known as "Book Information-Transport Substrate", but maybe there is a more common term?

I would have thought the "rectangular white bits with the words" on should have got a mention, though some people here collect Silmarillion's without the words.
