For those interested in Hb boxed/slipcased sets (no idea what impressions are in it, but looks in decent nick) --this one finishes this evening (in about 6 hours) & can be had for 99p...

The Lord of the Rings: volume 1/2/3 complete in cardboard by J. R. R. Tolkien...

Anyone else think this price was pretty high for a jacketless 3rd imp. RK? I bought my jacketed (jacket probably only G+, maybe VG- at a push) copy a few years back for £75, & didn't think that was particularly cheap. This, like all the crazy jacketless 1960/70's H's, seems to have attracted an unusual amount of bidding...

Way overpriced. I've paid just over $100 for both of my un-jacketed 1st/1st copies--one on eBay and one on Abebooks.

The problem with eBay is people overpay for items all the time because they get caught up in the bidding and/or they don't really know what they are bidding on. In my opinion, a 1st/3rd is not really that desirable for any collector without the jacket. That auction should have probably finished closer to £50.
