Hello, everyone. It's been a while since I've visited or posted here, but I wanted to give a heads up that I am closing down my website, "Telperion Books," at the end of this summer, and I am trying to pare down my inventory. I'm offering a 35% discount on everything in my store until the end of August to help facilitate this. I just simply do not have the time to properly maintain the site and inventory. Instead of allowing it to limp along indefinitely, I've decided to close it down.

I have many things that are not yet listed on my site, but I am going to make a real effort to get them up as soon as possible. If there is something in particular that you may be looking for, get in touch. I've got a few of the more recent deluxe Tolkien editions, and a nice 1st UK Voyager set of books 1 through 4 of G.R.R.Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," series, just to name a couple.

Thanks for reading this, and for all the past support. I had a lot of fun running my site, but it's become more burden than hobby, so it's time.

Best regards,

-Steve

Although you'd already said (to me), it's still a little sad to hear this Steve. Good luck with the sale anyway; better to not let it drag on, as you say, if it's no fun (&/or profitable) anymore.

I hope you have more fun in the future with just collecting!

Yes, I started this little side business before I had children. Now, I have twin daughters that are approaching 4 years old, and a 1 year old son. Most of the time, my wife and I just treading water, let alone running side businesses. I've completely neglected my site for quite some time now, and I just feel that it's not worth it unless I put the time and energy into it to make it nice. I'll always be a fan and collector, but the little spare time I have now, I'd rather put toward other hobbies.

As far as profitability goes.... I've certainly had a few good sales, but overall, it really was more about having fun. It's tough to make a good profit after all the fees, shipping costs, etc. You've got to be on top of things all the time to find the best deals, and to gauge where the market is for pricing. Most of the time when I've made a sale, it's usually been at some negotiated discount price too.

Now, I'm just trying to reduce the amount of cash I still have tied up in books. I'll keep a few items for myself, but my personal collection will be modest.

I am sorry to hear this, Steve. Thanks for notifying about this, I'll spread it via Twitter and hope this will speed up sales. I am perfectly broke now but if I had the money, believe me, I'd buy a few precious things there :)

Good luck!

Best wishes,
Marcel
