Lord of Rings First state slipcase 1957

Guys
Has anyone ever seen or even better got a photo of this slipcase.

I think I saw one on Friday (no camera with me!) but now have doubts in my mind.

It was covered in a dark paper- grey ? looked brownish to me but maybe you could argue that one and I suspect it was this shade due to sunning etc.

It wasn't stapled and looked to have folds inside on base and roof. The boards were thinner than normal and in the example I saw in a bit of a state. It looked quite poorly made in truth and I first thought it was home made, it was that bad

Part of the label was also missing and regrettably it was the lower third which would have had the price on it

The books were 7,5,3 ? so close to Tolkien books description.

Cant get a picture at moment from seller but working on that.

So any thoughts?

Laurel,

I will try to post a couple of pictures later on this evening (or tomorrow - whenever I get a chance) of the slipcase.
