I recently bought a copy of Essays and Studies 1953 and I was wondering if someone can give me an idea of the books worth. It has two small tears on the spine (0.5cm), the rest of the book and dust jacket has no other faults although there is a small neat inscription.

I have looked on abebooks and there are only two listed; an ex library copy for $245 US and the other is listed as a fine copy for $883 US...both these prices seem very excessive.

I bought a fine copy in 2003 for $75 and thought I got a good deal. I'd think the ex-lib is worth much less than that. A fine copy could probably find a buyer in the $100 to $200 range now, I think.

The last copy I saw on Ebay (about 6 months ago) sold for almost $350. It was close to Fine.

Thanks for the info. I bought the book from a small bookshop about 3 hours away from where I live. I get to go there once or twice a year and it always has something of interest.

I paid $7 Australian.
