Based on a Book called ‘Puffin By Design: 70 Years of Imagination 1940 to 2010’ by Phil Baines (Allen Lane, £20).

Eleanor Graham was strict when it came to one aspect of the series, however, only publishing stories she regarded as having lasting worth. Titles by Enid Blyton and JRR Tolkien were among those she felt less than worthy of Puffin.

An interesting quote as The Hobbit is the best selling children's book of all time.
